Album ready for the East Coast!

Jun. 17th, 2010

Hey guys -

It’s true – as of last Tuesday, the Smokejumper S/T is out and available in our store! Buy that thing, and another one for your friends! It’s the soundtrack to your summer and all that… Drink Beers! Get caned by the pool! Have fun with your friends! We sure as hell will!

Tomorrow, we leave for the East Coast. Check out our tour dates and come hang out if you’re in the area. If you are anywhere near Baltimore next weekend (June 24-26), you should come party with us at Insub fest. It’s going to be a blast!

Shawn is also going to be doing a tour blog. My guess is that you’ll get 2 posts, starting out strong, then Shawn will drink himself into another hospital visit, and it’ll be given up. Either way, check it out here: Shawns Tour Blog

See you in the pit!

Going Down

Mar. 5th, 2010

No. not that kind. Dirty dirty…

We are heading to Portland tonight for a show at the Twilight in Portland. You might have seen us play there back in September… Or then again, you might have stopped by and then had to leave before we played because you lived in Salem. Regardless, you still let us keep you up all night with our carrying on and what not, so we are thankful. But I digress… PORTLAND, we are going to be back into your humble city TONIGHT!

Tomorrow night, we will be throwin’ down some double kick blasts along side the likes of Broadway Calls, Danger Death Ray and the Taxpayers. Should be a blast to go along with those double kick blasts. Yeah… er… somethin……

OK, that’s about it. Come to our shows. Or… you’re dumb.

A New Record

Feb. 5th, 2010

That’s true, folks. Tonight marks the beginning of a mad dash to crank out a record’s worth of songs in no time flat. Tonight we start to capture our ‘essence’ at Egg Studios in Seattle. Whee!!

We will be attempting the impossible: Record 14 songs and have them finished, polished, and ready for human ears in a weekend. Are we sharp enough to make this happen? Only time will tell. One thing’s for certain, though: we are going to have one hell of a time doing it (and chances are good that large portions of whiskey, cheap beer and orange juice shall be consumed.)

Bring it on, click track! I’m not afraid of you (and your 250-300 bpm)

Some House Keeping

Jan. 23rd, 2010

So, you’ve noticed that we have a link to the ‘Smoke Shop’, right? Well let’s get those orders rolling! We have strong needs and desires that can only be fulfilled when you buy some of our crap. Already have a Grey SJ Tee, you say? Well then expand your horizons (and your wardrobe color) by picking up a ’squatch tee!

Koozies

We are currently out of Koozies. Boo! Good news is, we are going to order some more. Yay! Have a kick-ass idea for a Koozie design? Then send it to us via email. We’ll pick the best one and give you ‘credit’ for it. We’ll even give the ‘winning’ designer a free Koozie. Such a bargain…

RSS

Yeah – we have a link up there if you would like to pull a feed down into your news reader of choice and get some auto-magic updates on what’s going on. Out of the gates, we are only going to throw up an RSS 2.0 feed (for all of you nerds out there). If you would prefer an older revision (or perhaps you would prefer an atom feed?) then send us a note: info@smokejumperseattle.com.

Pre-Press

Jan. 22nd, 2010

Hey everyone! We’ll be playing a show tomorrow night with Shakes. We’re looking forward to it. It should be a grand time down on the south end of town.

This weekend, we’re going to start pre-prod on songs that we are recording for a couple of releases this spring. Lots of beats – fast fast beats. Whee…

Store

We have a couple of items for sale – pick up a couple of smokejumper Tshirts to wrap your dirty clothes in. They make great stocking stuffers… for next year. Or something. Just click on the “Smoke Shop” link above.

There’s a Pete Brady…

Jan. 15th, 2010

… Inside of YOU.

Come down to El Corazon tomorrow and sing along as Chris and I wail out a full set of nothing but Screeching Weasel tunes with Eric and Andrew from Kane Hodder. It’s gonna be about 15 minutes worth of 12 or so of your favorites, so don’t miss it!

Last Night

Was a great show. All the bands played great and you (the crowd) were stupendous (as always). Best of luck to Random Orbits on their weekend trip. To all the other bands – it was a good time and we can’t wait for the next time. As for the rest of you (again, the crowd) – we will see you at the next show next Friday for a house show with Shakes (details coming soon!)

Happy New Year, Everyone!

Jan. 4th, 2010

We all barely made it through the new year, but with 10 extra pounds each and a hurting liver to boot, we’re back in action and have a ton of exciting things planned in the new year.
First off, we’re recording our first full length in a couple weeks, and hopefully will have copies out shortly after on our record label: Better Half Records.

Awesome.

Then, we’ll be going back into the studio shortly after to record a couple more songs for a split 7″ with San Jose’s the Pillowfights on Silver Sprocket Records.

Double Awesome.

A Note From Chris

Dec. 3rd, 2009

The Left Coast

It’s been a while since we’ve posted.  Well, since our last west coast tour, which was amazing by the way.  By far the best tour I’ve been on to date!  Some thanks are definitely in order to start off.  First, Brian from Go! Fight! Win! for filling in on bass on this tour.  Everyone check out his band.  It’s good, despite the trash I talked in the van the whole trip.

Also, some people that helped us out:  ERC Booking, Marty and the boys from Birds Mile Home and all the Missoula kids, Grant, Ian, and our lil’ ball of fun in Bozeman, the City of Las Vegas for robbing us blind, Willy and Rumspringer, the Shithole house, Ziggy and his amazing band Save Amos, Party Marty and the entire city of Riverside (BEST SHOW OF TOUR WITHOUT A DOUBT!!), the Sweet Revenge, and last but  not least, Gobstopper (Portland’s premier Jawbreaker cover band!).

Finally… A Solid Lineup

Now, we’d like to announce our new bassist, Kevin! aka: the Chief.  My history of playing music with Kevin goes a long way back, about 6 or 7 years if my counting is correct.  This makes Smokejumper 100% ex-Dateless as well, as we’ve all done our tour of duty in that band.  Whatever…

We’re working on getting in the studio to do a split with the Pillowfights which looks like it’s coming out on Silver Sprocket Records as well as some extra songs that might be on a 7″ or EP or might just be thrown away.  Who knows?

The Holidays

The show that we have going this Friday looks to be our last of the year. It’s a memorial show for our friend Ben ‘Critical’ Russell who passed away last Fall. It’s at the Funhouse on Friday at 9:00.

So yeah, thanks to everyone who’s been cool in the past couple months, it’s been a lot of work, so it’s been nice to have good people around.  The holidays are here, love each other, keep safe and warm, and we’ll see you in the New Year with all types of awesome stuff in our bag!
